Onie Lee Paschall Johnson, 79, of Ridgely, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at her residence. She was a retired resident manager for Reelfoot Village and Camelot Apartments and a retired farmer. She was a Baptist. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ridgely Church of Christ with Bro. Jeff O'Dell officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery. November Beauty Spot

The home of Tommy and Mary Hopper, located at 1070 Valley Road in Dyersburg, was chosen as the November Beauty Spot by the Dyersburg City Beautiful Commission. The home was chosen for the overall neatness of the lawn and its beautiful fall decorations, including an arrangement of pumpkins and mums on the porch.

'Santa Paws' to be at Pet Stop Dec. 3

Santa is coming to visit his four-legged pals at the Pet Stop on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pictures with Santa are $8 and all proceeds will benefit the Dyersburg-Dyer County Humane Society. Pictured with Santa last year is Dixie and Jim Bob, owned by Jim and Denise Schoen. Last year the Humane Society raised $700 during the event.

Community orchestra presents fall concert Monday

The Dyersburg Community Orchestra will present its fall concert in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church in Dyersburg at 8 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 21. Newbern City Board approves bids, grants beer permit

Members of the Newbern Board of Mayor and Aldermen conducted two meetings in 10 minutes on Tuesday, Nov. 15. The full board met first to award bids for a new squad car and utility poles, and approve a debt-management policy resolution and the first reading of a municipal zoning ordinance. Six area rescue squads join in search for evidence in Swift case

On Saturday, approximately 50 searchers from several different counties continued the search for evidence in the missing-person case of Karen Swift. Dyer County Emergency Management Director James Medling, in conjunction with the Dyer County Sheriff's Department, coordinated the search, which included members of the Dyer County Rescue Squad, Dyer County volunteer firefighters, the Obion County Rescue Squad, the Lauderdale County Rescue Squad, the Lake County Rescue Squad, the Paris-Henry County Rescue Squad, Gibson County Fire and Rescue, as well as a few local volunteers.. ...
