Charlene Thompson Drumwright, 79, of Dyersburg, died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. She was a devout Christian, member of the Assembly of God Church and co-founder of Southside Assembly of God Church in Dyersburg. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. William Elder officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Ripley...

Rains swell backyard sinkhole

This huge sinkhole is in the backyard of the home of Daryl West, 176 Mesa Lane. West says that the sinkhole began beyond his property line but with the recent rain over the weekend and Monday has extended into his backyard and continues to grow. West stated that he contacted county officials but the issue still has not been addressed.

Scholarship created to honor Coffman

Friends and loved ones of Jon Coffman of Dyersburg have found a way to honor the memory of the young man lost too early in a four-wheeler accident in early October. A scholarship fund has been established in the memory of "Big Jon" Coffman, a member of the Dyer County High School Class of 2011. Organizers hope to raise enough funds to provide at least two $1,000 scholarships to DCHS seniors participating in the school's football or cheerleading programs who plan to continue their education...
