Downtown renovations begin again

Work has officially begun on Downtown Revitalization efforts targeting sidewalks and streetscapes on the merchant's side of Dyersburg's Historic Courthouse Square. Construction began at the corner of South Mill and West Court streets on Tuesday, Feb. 14, with workers from Ford Construction beginning demolition on the sidewalk in front of First Citizens National Bank. String of burglaries being investigated by sheriff's dept.

The Dyer County Sheriff's Department is investigating several burglaries that took place last week in which the burglars forced their way into the victims' homes. One burglary took place in the 10000 block of Highway 104 E. on Thursday, Feb. 10. The victim contacted the sheriff's department after discovering his house had been burglarized. ...

Third suspect in stabbing turns herself in to authorities

A suspect accused of taking part in the stabbing of a 19-year-old man is now in the Dyer County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Dyersburg City Court on Friday along with a co-defendant. Carnesha Joyner, 22, turned herself in to Dyersburg Police late last week after a warrant was issued for her arrest for attempted first-degree murder. ...

Lady Choctaws rout Brighton, advance to meet No.1-seed Munford

The Lady Choctaws have reached .500 on the year by virtue of a 62-35 victory over the Brighton Lady Cardinals on Tuesday evening. The win advances the Dyer County girls into district play and eliminates the Lady Cardinals from further competition. Despite opening the game slowly, the Lady Choctaws were able to jump in front of Brighton 11-4 in the first period. Well I suppose I should have left the groundhog alone, maybe he has more intel than I give him credit for, because it is cold! Temperatures in the 20s is one thing, but throw in a 15-mph northerly wind and it's downright frigid! I spent Saturday working on my boat, taking care of some honey-dos and watching the weather for Sunday. The weather is never perfect, (and when it is the fish don't seem to bite) but us "weekend warriors" have to take advantage of any time we get, and that's what I did!...
