DHS senior class to hold fundraiser Thursday

The Dyersburg High School Senior Class of 2012 will host a fundraiser at Los Portales Mexican Restaurant, 2385 Lake Road, on Thursday, March 8, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Senior students will be servers for the evening and all tips and donations they receive will go toward a senior-class picnic, which will be held on Friday, May 25, in lieu of Project Graduation.

Fincher hosts Crime Roundtable

This past Saturday, Congressman Stephen Fincher hosted a Crime Roundtable in Jackson, Tenn. Surrounded by local law enforcement officials, Fincher led an open discussion regarding criminal issues that affect communities in West Tennessee. Encouraging the participants to speak candidly about the multitude of problems local officials fight daily, this roundtable generated awareness for issues like illegal drug problems, prescription drug abuse and Medicare fraud. Eleven individuals including local sheriffs, police chiefs and district attorneys participated in the roundtable. Suspect held on $15,000 bond for burglary

A Dyersburg man is being held on $15,000 bond after he allegedly stole a handgun, prescription medicine and a debit card. Robert Lawrence, 27, is charged with aggravated burglary, fraud and theft of property for a burglary that was reported to the Dyer County Sheriff's Department on Feb. 19...

Firefighters extinguish small fire at downtown building

Dyersburg firefighters quickly extinguished a small fire that occurred in a downtown building on Tuesday afternoon. Fire crews responded to the Hope Peer Support Center, 222 East Court St., after a fire was reported around 1 p.m. The fire was reportedly inside a wall on the west side of the building and firefighters had to cut a hole in the side of the building to reach it. ...
