Community comes together to help beloved member

The supper and auction held for Monica Permenter at the Millsfield Fire Dept. attracted hundreds of caring residents for a night of fun, food and laughter. The event was successful in raising $18,000 for Monica Permenter and her family as she battles cancer. A Rotel chicken supper was served to guests as the community came together to help out one of their beloved members. Afterward, a plethora of donated items were auctioned to the highest bidders. Dyersburg Police Dept. reaccredited

After providing over 450 standards that it has met, being subjected to an on-site visit and a lengthy interview process, the Dyersburg Police Department was reaccredited through CALEA for another three-year period on Friday, March 24 at the agency's conference held in Mobile, Ala. McDonald's renovation OK'd by city planners

Candidate withdraws from school board race, will still be on ballot

One candidate running for a position on the Dyersburg City School Board has announced her intention to withdraw from the race, but she will still be listed on the ballot for the Aug. 2 elections. Sharon "Sherry" Anderson McElrath has been on the city school board in the District H, Ward 3 position for four years. She was planning on running again this summer against Chasity Pirtle, but she recently accepted a job outside the Dyersburg area, which is requiring her to relocate...
