Light voter turnout for Thursday's elections

Thursday's 2012 State Primary and County General Election saw only 18.07 percent of Dyer County's active voters take to the polls. There were 1,930 absentee and early votes cast, plus three provisional votes. Only 2,075 voters out of the 19,694 active voters in the county turned out on Election Day...

Holmes wins assessor of property race

In a hard-fought race from both sides, Sheila Holmes emerged the winner of Thursday's election for Dyer County assessor of property. Holmes got 61.99 percent of the vote with 2,440 votes to opponent David Fisher's 1,496 votes (38.01 percent). The numbers for early voting and absentee ballots came in after the polls closed and Holmes got 1,162 votes with Fisher receiving 725 votes...
