Giving credit to a program on the rise

Over the last nine basketball seasons, there have been many things witnessed concerning the local hoops squads. Some good, some bad, but a lot seen all the same. While trying to think back over all those seasons, there's one program that really hasn't done a lot through these eyes to deserve much credit. At least as far as winning basketball games is concerned anyway...

Lady Trojans hang on to win 62-60

It came down to the wire on Friday evening between the Dyersburg Lady Trojans and the Gibson County Lady Pioneers, but as the buzzer sounded, it was the Lady Trojans that emerged victorious over their district rival 62-60. The Dyersburg girls overcame a sluggish start to defeat the Lady Pioneers and improve to 4-4 on the year and 3-3 in the district. ...

Trojans rout Pioneers, 75-52

After a close game in the girls contest that came down to the wire, the Dyersburg Trojans came out and took control of their game against Gibson County early, as they routed the Pioneers 75-52. Trojan fans were not complaining about the lopsided score as their team improved to 4-8 on the year and picked up its second district victory...

Fearless Lady Choctaws edge Millington 57-49

In a scene that could have been taken from David vs. Goliath, the Lady Choctaw basketball team hosted a mammoth-sized Millington squad on Friday in Newbern. Despite the overwhelming size difference, Dyer County didn't flinch. The result was a 57-49 victory for the Lady Choctaws in a contest where the local squad took another step in the right direction of becoming a pretty solid basketball team...
