Rachel Dyer Finch passed away on Christmas Eve, 2012 in Framingham, MA, after a long battle with the after effects of a stroke suffered ten years earlier. She was 88 years old. Mrs. Finch was born in Newbern. She was the fifth of five daughters born to Walter and Marjorie Dyer. She was raised in the RoEllen area and graduated from Dyersburg High School...

Shade Tree Tractor Club hosts Plow Day on Saturday

The 2013 Shade Tree Tractor Club's 6th annual Plow Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 at 9 a.m. The event will take place at 1578 Bethlehem Road in Newbern, Tenn. There will be a number of antique tractors, mules plowing, wagon rides, a petting zoo, and concessions available. Admission is $3 and children 10 and under get in free. DHS drama team presents 'Stages' this weekend

This Thursday, the curtain will rise on Dyersburg High School's last play of the 2012-2013 academic year. The DHS Trojan Drama Team will present "Stages" in the DHS Little Theatre Thursday, April 11 through Sunday, April 14. General admission will be available at the door. Halls man sentenced to 3 years for vehicular homicide in 2011 wreck

A Halls, Tenn. man was sentenced to three years in prison for the vehicular homicide of a 10-year-old girl after pleading guilty to the charge before Dyer County Circuit Judge Lee Moore last week. Timothy Hipps, 34, 4765 Steelman Road, Halls, Tenn., was indicted on the charge of vehicular homicide in February 2012 and pleaded guilty to the Class C felony last week. Teen accused of DHS arson receives charges for another fire, 16-year-old also charged in case

Dyersburg Police have charged a 16-year-old Dyersburg youth with arson and burglary following the investigation into a number of suspicious fires. They also added additional charges of arson and burglary to Dillon McKinney, who was charged April 5, for the arson at Dyersburg High School.
