Carmack Bennett, 85, of Lenox, TN died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett. He was a member of Phillips Street Church of Christ and an Army veteran. Funeral services for Mr. Bennett will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Mr. Andy Brewer. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Munford takes Grand Premio Prize at DSCC Spanish Feria

2013 Relay for Life set for Friday in downtown Dyersburg

The 2013 Dyer County Relay for Life is a year of firsts. It will be the first time the event will be held in downtown Dyersburg, assuming weather permits. It will be the first time that a Relay team will serve as the Survivor hosts. And it will be the first time a youth cancer survivor has been named Honorary Chair. Friends, we are in high gear making plans for Bark in the Park to be held Saturday, May 11, at Okeena Park from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Just ordered some Bark tees in gorgeous colors, among other things. We are busy planning a fun-filled day for pets and their people, so hope you can attend. Rain date will be Saturday, May 18. Much more on this next week. It is such a pleasure to see "pet" people at Bark. They consider their pets a valued family member. These pets are well cared for and very much loved.

The Dyer County Budget Committee began a second day of budget meetings by hearing presentations from Election Administrator Anita Fowlkes, County Clerk Diane Moore, Property Assessor Sheila Holmes and Register of Deeds Danny Fowlkes.
