Newbern Elementary presents 'Annie Jr.' Tuesday

Newbern Elementary School will present 'Annie Jr.' at 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 14. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the annual spring play, which features the talents of all 107 members of the fifth-grade class. 'The children work super hard and always give a wonderful performance,' said HES fifth-grade teacher Jackie Clutts. Admission is $5 and can be paid at the door. 'Huddle Up' at the Pole to raise funds for Jeremy Maze

DHS, DIS win first UTM Quiz Bowl

The University of Tennessee at Martin hosted its first Academic Quiz Bowl last month and Dyersburg City Schools were well represented winning both the elementary and high school categories. The tournament followed the National Academic Quiz Tournament rules and utilized a double-elimination format. Suspects charged with filing false reports get probation

Two suspects recently indicted by the Dyer County grand jury for filing false reports were sentenced to probation. Ashley Maupin, 36, and Steven Permenter, 19, both appeared in front of Dyer County Circuit Court Judge Lee Moore on Tuesday. Maupin was represented by attorney Charles Kelly Sr. and Permenter by attorney Jason Creasy.
