R. E. Brown, 88 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Born Thursday, January 15, 1925 in Gibson County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Erby Fulton Brown and the late Birdie Lee Jernigan Brown Webb. Mr. Brown was a retired law enforcement officer, former member of the Newbern Masonic Lodge, Shriner and United States Navy Veteran serving in World War II...

Vintage tin cans found in old shed

Local resident Wesley East found a treasure when he helped a friend clean out an old shed on Summer Drive in Dyersburg last week. It was a find that had East remembering his father, who passed away in 2008. The shed belonging to East's friend featured a loft above the main storage room. When East pulled the boards off the wall during demolition, he found evidence of many long-ago breaks enjoyed in the loft...

National Guard accepting school-supply donations at Dollar Tree
