At the Shelter
(Features ~ 03/06/14)
Are you aware we take in over 5,000 local homeless pets a year, over 100 pets a week, over 20 pets a day at the shelter? Sadly, our numbers won't change until people become responsible pet owners and spay or neuter the pets they now own. We appreciate and need your donations to keep our doors open so that we can continue helping local strays and surrendered pets as we have done for the past 35 years. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit who receives no help from national organizations such as ASPCA, PETA, or HSUS. It has taken us years to build the shelter into what it is today. Our costs continue to increase, even though we have put every cost-saving measure in place, without compromising the health and safety of the shelter pets. We are not owned or run by the city/county. We own the building, all equipment, two animal-control trucks, and all the expenses that go with running a non-profit business. We are responsible for full-time and part-time employees salaries, insurance, gasoline, and utilities. We furnish food, medicine, shots for the pets and we even furnish professional vet care if needed. Please make a tax-deductible donation to the shelter today. Specify who your donation is to with complete address where notification or acknowledgment should be sent and your complete address. We will do the rest. Categories are: The Beagley Fund (heartworm treatment for shelter pets only), General Fund, Champ Lewis Fund (monetary pet-adoption assistance), Save a Life Makeover (professional clip and groom to make a pet more adoptable), Nicole Incrocci Memorial Fund, Honorariums and Memorials. Please mail your check to the Dyersburg/Dyer County Humane Society, P.O. Box 223, Dyersburg, TN 38025-0223. Thank you for helping the animals and keeping our doors open.
