Northview to host arts and crafts fair March 29

Northview Middle School will host the Dyer County Schools Relay for Life Team's second annual arts and crafts fair on Saturday, March 29. The event will take place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the school located at 820 Williams St., in Newbern. A $1 donation at the door includes admission and a chance for door prizes from a variety of vendors. Items for sale will include jewelry, misses and women's size clothing, gourmet dog treats, organic soaps and chapstick, vinyl monogramming, embroidery, concessions and much more. Booths are still available. Interested vendors may call Elisha Childress at 589-7964.

DHS students selected to attend Governor's School

The program is offered for gifted and talented high school students and offers them an opportunity for intensive learning and training in a particular field at various universities throughout the state. Holden delivers 'State of the City' address

Man sentenced to 2 years in beating death

A Dyersburg man began a two-year sentence this week after pleading guilty to a charge of reckless homicide from an incident that occurred in October of 2012.
