James N. Cook, lifelong resident of Dyersburg died peacefully in his sleep at 5:00 AM on Saturday April 12, 2014 at the age of 100 [eleven weeks short of 101] -- He was born on June 30, 1913. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, SYBLE PAYNE COOK, one brother Amory L. Cook of Bremerton, WA, two sons, James L. ( Jimmy) Cook, class of '58, and Jack A. Fair lease agreement draws discussion, ultimately approved

The Dyer County Fair Association was granted a lease to continue to hold the fair at the Dyer County Fairgrounds (formerly the Dyer County Farm) for an additional 50 years at the Dyer County Commission meeting on Monday evening. The approval was about as smooth as a fair bumper-car ride as confusion arose during the meeting over who drafted the agreement and what grounds were covered in the lease. ...

DHS Hall of Honor: Dr. John Steven 'Steve' Gaines

Dr. John Steven "Steve" Gaines has been leading people to Christ his whole adult life. As a member of the Dyersburg High School Class of 1975, Gaines was a leader in and out of the classroom and is remembered as having "a big heart and a knack for fun." City board OKs beer suspension at El Patio

The Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Alderman held a called meeting on Tuesday, April 15 to discuss the recent notification from the Tennessee Alcohol and Beverage Commission that El Patio had violated its liquor license by serving liquor to a minor on Thursday, Jan. 30.
