(Local News ~ 08/06/14)
The charming century-old home of Roger and Dana Taylor at 232 Mitchell St. in Trimble is the Trimble Area Women's Club Yard of the Month for July. Judges from the Dyer County Master Gardeners were impressed with the use of pieces of driftwood from Mr. Taylor 's extensive collection throughout the yard. At the entrance interspersed into one beautiful driftwood specimen is a weeping mulberry tree, giant hibiscus, and red New Guinea impatiens. Red barberry and pink and white calla lilies line the walk along with a welcoming mailbox spilling over with pink petunias and spikes. On the landing is a huge clay pot overflowing with hens and chicks, the start of which came from Mr. Taylor's grandmother many years ago. The large inviting front porch with its comfortable swing and rocking chairs is surrounded by vibrant hanging baskets of marguerite sweet potato vine and orange lantana.
