DFD responds to vehicle fire

Five Dyersburg firefighters responded to and extinguished a passenger-vehicle fire on Friday around noon in the front parking lot of Suckerpunch Sign and Graphics located on St. John Avenue in Dyersburg. Smoke originated in the area of the rear tire in close proximity to the engine of the vehicle. The tire exploded due to high temperature exposure causing the vehicle to catch fire. The firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the flames before they reached nearby power lines and a transformer.
