Dry spell ends Trojan season at Lexington in quarterfinals

City Board approves replacement of phone system, updates to sewer use ordinance

Dyer County Schools closed

Dyer County Schools are closed again for another day due to icy road conditions such as this one on Back Out Road. The icy roads make bus routes treacherous and unsafe for travel. The Dyer County School System will make decisions on school closings on a day-by-day basis of road conditions.

Gwap City fire under investigation

On Monday afternoon at approximately 5:30 local fire departments were alerted to a fire at Gwap City Entertainment Lounge, formerly known as Loafer's Lounge. The structure was still smoldering on Tuesday afternoon when (l-r) Ryan Shanklin, a special agent with the Tennessee Bomb and Arson Squad; DCSO Investigator Stoney Hughes, and Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box, surveyed the damage. Though the investigation into the cause of the fire is still in the preliminary stages, anyone with any information regarding the fire is urged to call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017.

Dyersburg police officer arrested on theft charge

JACKSON -- An investigation by Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has resulted in the arrest of a Dyersburg Police Officer charged with stealing from an Obion County couple. At the request of 27th District Attorney General Thomas Thomas, TBI Special Agents, with the assistance of officers with the Obion County Sheriff's Office, began investigating Cara Elizabeth Johnson-Peckenpaugh on February 10th. ...
