DSCC receives donation from FCNB at Chamber Coffee

Dyersburg State Community College was the recipient of a $1,000 donation from First Citizen's National Bank during the South Tipton County Chamber of Commerce's First Friday Coffee on Feb. 6 at the First United Methodist Church in Munford. On hand for the check presentation was (l to r) Greg Benjamin, community bank president of FCNB-Atoka Financial Center, Christian Heckler, executive vice president, retail banking at FCNB-Arlington, Dr. Karen Bowyer, president of DSCC, Dr. Jamie Frakes, dean of the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County, and Cari Dee Dawson, assistant vice president of FCNB-Munford.

Lowe's donates to YMCA

Lowe's of Dyersburg recently donated $1,040 to the YMCA's 2015 Youth Sports Sponsor Program. With the donation, Lowe's will sponsor four YMCA youth sports teams during 2015. Patrick Holden of the YMCA accepted the check from Lowe's store manager Joe Ing. Lowe's associates on hand for the check presentation were: (L-R) Shundrika Grant, Brianna Hendren, Amanda Holt, Beth Sanders, and Amy Putman. The Sandbox hosts ribbon cutting

On Friday, Feb. 13, the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce hosted the ribbon-cutting ceremony at The Sandbox, the newest Chamber member. Owner Ellen Akin was joined by friends and family, Chamber diplomats, Dyer County Mayor Chris Young, and Dyersburg Mayor John Holden, for the ceremony. The Sandbox is a children's clothing shop located at 620 Mall Blvd., Suite D2, behind the Dyersburg Mall.

DSCC to present 3-D printing workshop

Dyersburg State Community College will hold a free 3D Printing Workshop on Wednesday, March 11 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the E.H. Lannom Jr. Gymnasium, Room 122, on the Dyersburg campus. The workshop, conducted by Technical Training Aids of Birmingham, Alabama, will include a demonstration on how to design, print and remove support material on a 3D printer...
