Rev. Richard Walter Behnke, 77, of Dyersburg, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. He was the Pastor and member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and a graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, IN. He served 27 1/2 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as Commander. Richard was a Minister for over 30 years and served as a Chaplain with the Dyersburg Police Department...

Rabies vaccinations offered Saturday around county

Rabies vaccinations for 2015 are being conducted each Saturday through May 16 at various locations throughout the county. The vaccinations are conducted by Dyer County Animal Hospital, Dyer County Health Department and Dyersburg-Dyer County Humane Society. The fee is $9 ($7 for the vaccination and $2 for registration). City approves purchases during meeting

Two purchases were approved at the Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Alderman meeting Monday. Officials heard the need of a hot-mix overlay for the city street, water and sewer department, as well as a leachate lift station for the city landfill. City remembers historic flooding

This week marks the five-year anniversary of the record-breaking flood in Dyer County. The rising waters that flooded the Southtown area of Dyer County affected numerous Dyersburg residents and businesses. In May 2010, a historic rainfall caused the north fork of the Forked Deer River to crest at 31.21 feet; this was 9.21 feet above flood stage for the river. This flood level eclipsed the previous record that occurred in our community in 1937...
