Mayor declares June 7-13 National Garden Week

Dyersburg Mayor John Holden has declared the week of June 7-13 as National Garden Week. The proclamations notes that 'Gardeners have a passion for nurturing the beauty and resources of the earth through the planting of seeds, the care of all plants and the riches of their efforts.' Gardeners also 'promote healthy lifestyles, environmental education, and add beauty, splendor, fragrance and nutrition to all our lives.' Therapists arrested for boy's wish

Hudson has been going to Sports Plus Rehab in Dyersburg since he was 6 months old. Born with no muscle tone, he is very physically challenged and in a wheelchair. Hudson's therapists, Amy Staggs and Shelley Seratt, have been working with him from day one. They have pushed hard for Hudson to do his therapy so he can improve physically. Therapy is hard for Hudson, and even though he loves Staggs and Seratt, he does not always love having to work so hard in therapy...

Veterans Museum hosts lunch, live entertainment, tours

This past Saturday, May 30, at noon, the Veterans Museum at the Old Halls Army Airbase hosted its monthly Community Lunch, Tour and Fly-in. Due to inclement weather, this month's event was more of a drive up, walk-in affair. Even so, around 40 people were in attendance, dining on home-cooked meals and desserts while live music from 50 years ago roused more that a few to take to the dance floor. ...

Bulls 'N' Barrel Blast Rodeo a big success despite inclement weather

This past Saturday night, Dyersburg's first rodeo event in 10 years drew a full crowd at the Dyer County Fairgrounds despite the rain that made the arena and grounds a muddy mess. The Relay for Life event also took place, just across the road, and made the night a special treat for all fair-goers...

Local boxers headed to Junior Olympics Nationals

Six local boxers from Team REED Boxing Club will have a chance at national exposure next week as they will travel to Charleston, West Virginia to compete in the Junior Olympic Nationals beginning on Monday, June 8. "We're not just wanting to be the best here in West Tennessee, we're wanting to be the best in the United States," Team REED coach Amber Reed said. "They've worked really hard. Hopefully, this young group, we can take to the Olympics, is what we're shooting for."...
