Local bowler Larry Bryant makes USBC Hall of Fame

A local bowler recently received an award with national significance for his 32-year career and sportsmanship as Larry Bryant will be inducted into the United States Bowling Congress Hall of Fame from the Greater Dyersburg area. Vintage autos pass through Dyersburg on Hot Rod Power Tour

Possible lower electricity costs beginning Oct. 1

The Tennessee Valley Authority is preparing to change the way it prices the electricity it produces. During a Newbern Commercial and Industrial meeting, TVA discussed the change, along with incentive packages to assist companies in the area. In an article published in the State Gazette on Wednesday, June 10, Dyersburg Regional Medical Center was listed among the Top 50 for-profit hospitals in the nation charging uninsured patients more than 10 times the actual cost of their care. Something to think about on a long drive

Beginning where I left off last week, let me again say that it can be very hard to change my mind about something. It may have been a month or so ago that the subject of local leagues vs. traveling teams was covered here in this column. While I am not going to come out and say that I have been completely converted on this subject, traveling baseball and softball teams are -- to borrow a line from the X-Men movie franchise -- the next step in the evolution of how our young people learn to play the game and improve as well.. ...
