Chick-fil-A kicks off Pack the Bus

With the new academic year just around the corner, area residents have a unique opportunity to help local students in need of school supplies and enjoy a treat themselves. Chick-fil-A will host the big yellow school bus for an annual school supply drive that treats residents who "Pack the Bus" with a free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. Yard sale Friday and Saturday to benefit Incrocci scholarship

An all-donation yard sale to benefit the Nicole Rae Incrocci Scholarship is scheduled for Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25, at 30 Lawson Lane, Heathridge Plantation in Dyersburg. The scholarship is awarded to deserving graduates of Dyer County High School each year. Incrocci passed away in 2010 while a sophomore at Dyer County High School. The Class of 2013 would have been her graduating class. She was a manager for the DCHS football team, a DCHS basketball cheerleader, a member of the DCHS yearbook staff, and a member of the Leadership Club. She was also an All-American Scholar.

Arkansas duo arrested for drug possession

Two men from Arkansas were arrested after members of the Dyer County Sheriff's Office found 2.5 grams of marijuana and $2,156 worth of Oxycodone during a vehicle search. Andrew Hill, 26, of Bay, Ark., and Nathan L. Wright, 25, of Jonesboro, Ark., were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of marijuana and possession of Oxycodone with intent to sell on Monday. Dyersburg Electric Power Board discusses hot weather and solar energy

Tuesday the Dyersburg Electric System Power Board met to discuss a variety of issues ranging from hot-weather peak power loads to transmission pole inspections. Robby Richards, VP of finance for DES, told members of the board that they were looking at hiring a solar consultant to assist with the new ERMCO solar grid, saying "I wanted to get permission from the board to hire a consultant if needed ... and it would be paid for by ERMCO with no expense to the electric company."...
