Roof under construction over Newbern Depot dock

In an effort to get more foot-traffic to downtown Newbern, city crews are currently working on a roof to cover the dock near the historic depot. Southern Class Boutique holds ribbon cutting

The Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony July 31 at the grand opening for Southern Class Boutique. Co-owners Kim and Ken Sutton and Jimmy and Judy Harber were joined by Chamber President and CEO Allen Hester, County Mayor Chris Young, Chamber diplomats and several other community leaders for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Modern Woodman fundraiser for DCHS a success

Members of the Newbern Modern Woodmen of America chapter recently helped raise money for the Dyer County High School football program by hosting a barbecue sale May 23. The event raised $8,894, including $2,500 of matching funds donated by Modern Woodmen's home office through the organization's Matching Fund program. The Matching Fund program offers Modern Woodmen camp members nationwide the chance to show their support of a community cause, organization or individual in need by holding fundraisers. Modern Woodmen matches money raised up to $2,500.
