Doyle Brewer, 100, of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center. Mr. Brewer was a retired farmer and an avid hunter. He was a Methodist. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerry Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens...

City schools to dismiss early on Monday

Monday, Oct. 26, will be an abbreviated day for all of the Dyersburg City Schools. School will dismiss an hour early, at 2 p.m. on Monday due to the large number of students, faculty and staff attending the SCORE Prize ceremony in Nashville. Dyersburg City Schools is one of three Tennessee school districts named as a district finalist for the 2015 SCORE Prize. ...

City of Dyersburg hosting early Halloween Oct. 30

This Halloween Eve is on Friday, Oct. 30, and the City of Dyersburg will be giving out treats, and maybe tricks, at nine locations around town. From 3-5 p.m. that afternoon, the locations below will be "open for trick or treats." The best place to start will be City Hall, where visitors can pick up a map of participating departments. The first 40 kids will receive a "City of Dyersburg bag."...

Fire danger moderate for Dyer County

As many as four brush fires were called in Tuesday that elicited response from Dyer County fire departments. One such fire on the south end of Council Road occurred in a soybean field next to a residence. Dyer County Fire Chief James Medlin explained that conditions in West Tennessee are pretty dry at the moment, and no burning permits were being issued. ...
