Discovery Park wins awards, presents 'Bodies Revealed'

The Southeast Festival and Event Conference was held last week in Charleston, South Carolina, and Discovery Park of America was a big winner. Discovery Park of America is one of this nation's newest attractions, opening Nov. 1, 2013 in Union City, Tennessee. The park recently celebrated its 570,000th visitor in just over two years.

Bogota resident turns 100

Jeanette Robeson Robinson, born on Jan. 31, 1916, is celebrating her 100th birthday today. With eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, Robinson has lived a very full life, seen a great many things, and has probably forgotten more than many could ever hope to remember.

Home burns for 3rd time in 3 months, arson suspected

For the third time in less than three months, the home of Kim and Maggie Craig, 4995 Newbern RoEllen Road, has burned. The first incident, on Oct. 20, was determined to be caused by faulty electrical issues in the attic. But the last two fires, according to Dyer County Fire Chief James Medlin, are under investigation as possible arsons. The second fire happened just two days after the first and was considered "suspicious" at the time.

Woman pleads guilty to theft, sentenced to 10 years
