Recent history repeated itself on Saturday night as Arlington once again proved to be the Choctaws' bane when it comes to region play as the Tigers rallied in the fourth quarter to eliminate Dyer County in the region quarterfinals 65-53 at Newbern.

Trojans give top-seeded South Side a tough out in region opener

For the second time in as many nights, a Dyersburg basketball team looked to bust the region tournament bracket at Jackson South Side High School and the Trojans nearly pulled of what would have been one of the bigger upsets in the state, giving the Hawks -- who were the No. 1 team in Class AA in the final Associated Press poll -- all they could handle before falling 51-49 on Saturday night in the 7AA quarterfinals.

Tough third quarter dooms Lady Trojans

Despite carrying a six-point lead into the second half on Monday night at the Region 7AA Tournament in Henderson, the Lady Trojans shooting went cold while the South Gibson girls scored 16 unanswered points. Though Dyersburg cut back into the lead during the final frame, the Lady Hornets were able to put away the underdog Lady Trojans 54-37.

Lady Choctaws win thriller in 7AAA semis

The Lady Choctaws faced an uphill battle in the Region 7AA semifinals, facing an Arlington team that Dyer County's girls had not beaten in four tries since 2009-10 on the Lady Tigers home floor with the season and a substate berth on the line. Dyer County, trailing by eight at the end of the first half, rallied to take the lead in the third quarter before Arlington forced overtime.

'Revive ALL' set for J.C. Sawyers stadium March 19

On Saturday evening, 5:30 p.m., March 19, a community gathering will take place at J.C. Sawyers stadium at the Dyersburg High School campus. Called "Revive ALL", this first-time event will feature speakers, singers and musicians from different churches in the area, coming together to praise God with prayer, worship and beautiful messages.

Kiwanis Club donates $20,000 to community organizations

The Dyersburg Kiwanis Club recently presented a $10,000 check to The Fellowship of Christian Athletes and another $10,000 check to Winshape Camp. Funds for this generous donation were raised through the Kiwanis 5th Annual Duck Blast.
