John M. "Johnny" Cook, 60 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital-Bartlett in Bartlett, Tennessee. Born Friday, May 27, 1955 in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William Watson "Dub" Cook and the late Clestia Fox Cook. Lady Trojans cruise, honor Anna Kate Wenz

Though softball may have been secondary for the Lady Trojans and Westview before the game got underway on Tuesday evening as the two teams honored 2-year-old Anna Kate Wenz -- who passed away earlier this month after her battle with cancer -- the Lady Trojans -- wearing pink jerseys bearing Anna Kate on the front -- took care of business on the field once the game got underway, as Dyersburg scored 10 unanswered runs to take a 10-2 win over the Lady Chargers at Dyersburg High School.

Discovery Park to hold egg hunt featuring Easter Bunny and Deno the Dino

UNION CITY, Tenn. - The Easter Bunny will be joined by Deno the Dino for the Third Annual Dino Egg Hunt this Saturday at Discovery Park of America. The Egg Hunt is free, but admission is required to get in the park. "This year, all the eggs will have candy, and the children can keep them," said Event Director Lauren Jones. Easter Sunrise Service planned at The Well of Dyersburg

Diane Owen Mallard (right), the Rev. Alfred Roundtree (left), and the Rev. Gary Meade (middle) meet to prepare for the Sunrise Service, a community-wide celebration of Christ's resurrection. Participation of additional area pastors and members is also expected. The service will be held outdoors at 7 a.m. on Easter morning, March 27, at The Well of Dyersburg. Hot coffee and a variety of sweets will be served while they last. In case of bad weather, the service will move indoors. The Well of Dyersburg, located at 416 N. Sampson Ave. in Dyersburg, is a newly established local ministry focusing on modeling God's unconditional love, reconciliation, advocacy, and diversity in worship. The budding work of the new congregation has received the warm welcome and encouraging support of a number of established local churches, as well as some from out of the area. Gatherings at The Well of Dyersburg for worship will regularly take place on each Saturday evening at 7 p.m. starting April 2. Firefighters called out to mall

Those who were out shopping at the Dyersburg Mall Tuesday afternoon may have gotten more than they bargained for, as Burks Outlet began evacuating customers in fear that a fire may have broken out inside of the store. Members of the Dyersburg Fire Department responded promptly, and were on scene at the mall just moments after dispatchers received a call from a Burkes employee stating that they could smell something burning from somewhere within the department store. According to Dyersburg Fire Chief Tim Ware, firefighters responding to the call checked all of the facility's units, the attic and roof, but found no signs of a fire
