Cotton Mill Reunion to be held at Dyer County Museum Saturday

The Dyersburg Fabrics exhibit is located inside the Dyer County Museum. This exhibit will be featured on Saturday as the Dyer County Historical Society hosts the 'Cotton Mill Reunion'. The event is part of the Dyersburg-Dyer County Dogwood Festival. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. with a formal presentation scheduled to begin at 1. The presentation will feature Albert Fowlkes, Jack Todd, Richard Donner and Bill Parmenter. These former mill employees will lead a discussion about the history of the mill from the time it moved from Oswego, New York in the late 1920s. Anyone who worked at the mill, or who was in any way connected to the mill's operation over the 70-plus years it was open in Dyersburg are encouraged to attend and share their memories of the textile factory.

World game-calling champ coming to Dyer County

In an effort to bring the community together for a night of family fun, A Sportsman's Family Night Out at the Dyer County Fairgrounds' Building will be held Saturday, April 23. The doors open at 5 p.m. for vendor and sponsor displays and demonstrations. A free wild-game supper will be served at 6 p.m. Attendees may enter for several door prizes and the chance to win a total of four guns; one to be given to a man, a woman, a youth, and a grand prizewinner will receive an AR-15. No ticket purchase is necessary; this is a totally free family event.

Cotton Mill Reunion set for Saturday

Dyersburg Cotton Products bought a lot of locally grown cotton. It was a tradition to recognize the first bale purchased each year. Pictured above, Bobby Walker of Bogota poses with his first year's bale of cotton. To reflect and pay tribute to the Cotton Mill, the Professional Development Center (PDC) will be hosting a 'Cotton Mill Reunion' event this Saturday, April 23, at 10a.m., inside of the PDC building, located at 305 College St. Anyone associated with the Cotton Mill is encouraged to attend. Featured during the event will be the old mill whistle, copies of spinnits, and over 3,000 old mill photos.

Discovery Park to host 'Civil War Days'
