Dyersburg athletes punch ticket to Spring Fling

Dyersburg track standout Banita Simmons and a trio of Trojan athletes advanced to the TSSAA Class A-AA State Track Meet next week, as they placed in the top two in five field events to earn automatic berths in the meets on Thursday and Friday.

He was born and raised in Dyer County, Tennessee and served his country during World War II in the European Theater as a member of the 783rd Military Police Battalion. Case of mistaken identity lands local woman in jail

A case of mistaken identity left a local resident incarcerated when she was arrested after being served with an indictment from an incident that took place in January of 2012. Though a clerical mistake resulted in the wrong person being arrested, after more than 24 hours in custody, the charges were ultimately dropped earlier this week thanks to the help of local attorney Charles Kelly.
