13th annual Youth Villages golf tourney held at city course

On Saturday, May 21, the 13th annual Youth Villages FORE Kids Golf Tournament was held at the Dyersburg Municipal Golf Course. The tournament, held to benefit the foster children of Youth Villages, is one well supported by the business community, as well as many local golfers. This year the proceeds raised were approximately $8,000, and most of the money raised will go toward sending local youths to Lakeshore Camp in Eva, Tenn.

With the Lady Trojans leaving the comfy confines of Doug French Field and Dyersburg High School on Monday afternoon, the DHS softball team will look to finish the work they have put into this season as they seek the school's second state title in softball in three years beginning on Tuesday afternoon at 5 p.m. in Murfreesboro.

1 dead, 1 seriously injured during weekend accident

A weekend accident occurring at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday night on U.S. Hwy 51, claimed the life of a Troy woman, while her husband was airlifted to Memphis with serious injuries. The collision caused Gray to lose control and cross over into the median and into the southbound lanes of traffic, where a passenger, 42-year-old Marcie Gray, was ejected before being struck by oncoming traffic. The vehicle that struck Ms. Gray reportedly continued driving and failed to stop. EMS officials arriving at the accident pronounced Ms. Gray dead at the scene.
