The historic run for Dyersburg junior double tennis players Gracie and Tessa Liljenquist came to an end on Thursday afternoon when the pair fell in straight sets to Knoxville Catholic at the Old Fort Park tennis courts in Murfreesboro in the semifinals of the Class A-AA Doubles State Tournament.

Afternoon accident results in major damage to vehicles

An accident on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Hwy 51 Bypass and Forrest Street caused major damage to both vehicles, while both drivers escaped without major injuries. According to the DPD, a silver 2007 Chevrolet pickup driven by Samuel Smith, 22, was traveling north on Hwy 51 and attempted to turn left onto Forrest Street when the vehicle was struck by a black 2012 Nissan Altima driven by Britney Mays, 26, traveling north on Hwy 51. While Smith walked away from the collision uninjured, Mays was transported to Tennova Healthcare for a possible neck injury. Though no charges have been filed, the incident remains under investigation.

Search of residence leads to arrests of local women

A late-night execution of a search warrant by members of the Dyer County Sheriff's Office led to the arrests of two local women. At the conclusion of the execution of the search warrant, items seized included crystal methamphetamine, over $1,000 in currency, paraphernalia, as was a 2012 Mitsubishi Gallant automobile.
