Dyersburg Dixie Darlings win District 1 Championship

The Dyersburg Dixie Darlings All-Star team competed in the 2016 District 1 All-Star Tournament last weekend in Maury City, Tenn. They competed for 5 days going undefeated to win the District 1 championship for the second consecutive year. They will be playing in the State Tournament in Ripley on July 8. Local girl to compete in national 9-ball championships

With summer in full swing and many local athletes spending their summers on baseball and softball diamonds, a local 10-year-old pool player will get a chance to play at the national level as Newbern's Lana Keith will play in the Junior National 9-Ball Championships sponsored by the Billiard Education Foundation.

Canadian Railroad's 'Little Obie' safety train visits Newbern

All aboard! Newbern residents made their way to the downtown district early Friday morning to catch a free ride on the Canadian Railroad's safety train 'Little Obie'. Train rides were provided from 9a.m.-noon, with the train triangulated through the downtown park area. Due to the event, those passing through the downtown district may have experienced a slight delay. Special thanks are extended to members of the Dyer County Rescue Squad, who were on scene to help regulate traffic control.
