Board of Control vote from Wednesday will alter at least soccer

The football season and the start of the school year is drawing closer as students spent half a day in class on Friday in sort of a jamboree day before the real fun begins tomorrow. Defense holds in Choctaws' opening scrimmage

Despite some hiccups on offense as well as an early Tide score on Friday night in Trenton, the Choctaw defense shut down Peabody for the remainder of the game while Dyer County's offense scored twice as the Tribe came home from Gibson County with a successful scrimmage.

'Farm to Table' dinner to benefit Main Street Farmers Market and Healing Horses Inc.

County mayor, sheriff elaborate on courthouse lawn maintenance

On Friday, July 16, a crowd of concerned residents gathered at the Dyer County Courthouse for the Public Hearing of the 2016-17 Dyer County budget. Throughout the course of the hearing, citizens voiced various grievances regarding the proposed hike in property taxes of 11.5 cents, including Constable James Sansom, who pointed out that the county had contracted yard work at the Dyer County Courthouse to local landscaping business TennLawn, which, in his opinion, should have been delegated to trustees of the Dyer County Jail, in order to save taxpayer dollars.
