98-year-old WWII veteran Lonnie Hannah shares experiences of the war

Born Aug. 5, 1918, World War II veteran Lonnie Hannah just turned 98 years old, and throughout his many years, Hannah has experienced more than his share of adventures, loss, and happiness. Celebrating his recent birthday, Hannah will be spending today celebrating the occasion with his two daughters and caregivers, Donna Hinson and Amanda Cates, as well the rest of his family. Hannah has been residing in the town of Newbern with Cates for the past 11 years since the passing of his wife, Laverne Hannah.

Damascus projected to open by end of year

Late Wednesday afternoon, members of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce, as well as local chefs and business owners, met together at RoEllen Ranch Farm Adventure, located at 1359 Don Hurley Road, to discuss plans and preparations for the upcoming Farm to Table Dinner. The event is scheduled to take place in a barn on Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

6th Annual Vicki Ballard Memorial Ride begins in Trimble

On Friday morning, Aug. 5, bikers from across the country gathered in downtown Trimble at the Full Throttle S'loonshine Distillery to begin the Annual Vicki Ballard Memorial Ride. This year marks the sixth year that motorcycle enthusiasts have participated in the ride. The journey covers nearly 1,200 miles starting from Vicki Ballard's hometown of Trimble all the way to the Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis, South Dakota.
