Lady Choctaws have both youth and experience heading into 2016 season

Coming into his second season as the head coach of the Dyer County girls soccer program, Cody Williams was able to pinpoint two things the Lady Choctaws have -- two things that you usually don't find in the same place. "This year looking at the numbers after tryouts and after the jamboree, this year we're going to be a younger team than we were last year," Williams said. "But, we actually have more experience on this team than we did last year."

DHS hosts annual Trojan Football Hamburger Supper

Junkin' and Jams 'Vintiques and Vittles' event draws large crowd of shoppers and live performers

Recently held in downtown Dyersburg was the annual Junkin' and Jams, 'Vintiques and Vittles' event. Hosted by numerous local merchants in the district, this year's event drew countless individuals, all of whom were more than willing to suffer the harsh summer heat to enjoy an afternoon of shopping, live entertainment, and local foods from restaurants including Joe's Downtown Market, Todd's Café, Alvino's Pizza, Merry Castle, and the Bus Stop.

Duckfest, TWRA blind drawing brings out thousands

While the heat of August made waiting on the duck blind drawing a summer endurance test, hundreds of West Tennessee duck hunters made the annual journey to the Dyer County Fairgrounds in hopes of securing a TWRA blind in the Tigrett bottoms. During sign-in, hunters met up with their friends and shopped the latest in duck hunting equipment from local outfitters present at the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce's Duckfest.

Airport committee hears proposal of private hangar

On Monday, Aug. 8, the City of Dyersburg Airport Committee convened at 10 a.m. at city hall. All committee members and Mayor John Holden were present. The committee heard a proposal for development for a private aircraft hangar of Area 9 at the Dyersburg Regional Airport. Greg Williams presented the proposal from Michael and Patrick Heckethorn before the Airport Committee.

County passes budget, property tax increase

On Monday, the Dyer County Legislative Body convened at 6:30 p.m. at the Dyer County Courthouse. Gathered at the meeting were county commissioners, county officials, the budget committee, and concerned citizens. Commissioner John Uitendaal called the meeting to order. All county commissioners were present with the exception of Commissioner Jeff Branham, who passed away on Sunday.
