Heckethorn displayed servant’s heart in 21-year school board tenure

After 21 years of service to the Dyersburg City School Board, Amy Heckethorn stepped down from her position in September. Over the course of her tenure, Heckethorn played a strategic role in numerous pivotal policy changes throughout the years. Those changes included helping provide the opportunity for Dyersburg students to ride buses, implementing dress codes, aid in the creation of the formula used to determine valedictorian, hired superintendents, and assisted in the development of the primary and middle schools.

Wreck on Scott Rd. results in fatality

At roughly 10 a.m. Saturday, a wreck occurring at 1100 Scott Rd. resulted in the fatal injury of one Dyer County man, identified as 50-year-old Patrick Kreg Jackson.

Shooting on Tucker Circle leaves man wounded

On Thursday, Nov. 10, at approximately 8 p.m., shots fired on Tucker Circle, off of Upper Finley Road, resulted in the injury of one Dyer County man, who was later transported to Regional One-Memphis, with a gunshot wound sustained to the torso. Currently, the man is reported to be in stable condition.
