Christmas tree made of 10,300 books on residence tour

NASHVILLE – A giant Christmas tree made of 10,300 children’s books is one of the many trees exhibited at the Tennessee governor’s residence this holiday season. The tree, a project of GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs) of Tennessee is the brainchild of its president, Linda Hershey of Chattanooga. Hershey will be in attendance on Dec. 2 when first lady Crissy Haslam welcomes members of the press for a preview of the mansion’s decorations.

Single-vehicle wreck on 104 leaves driver injured

At approximately 2:55 p.m. Thursday, the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash on State Route 104, just outside of the western part of the Dyersburg city limit. According to THP, the vehicle, a gold 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, was traveling westbound on State Route 104 when it left the roadway, went into a ditch, then into a field.
