Ruth Irene Armstrong, 93, of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Bells Nursing Home and Rehab Center. Ruth was born on September 7, 1923 in Rovel, LA to the late Charlie Willis and Jeanette Jordan Hollingsworth. She worked over 40 years in the cafeteria and the sewing department at Dyersburg Fabrics. Ruth previously had worked at Woolworth's and Foster's Cafe. She was also a member of Dyersburg First Assembly of God Church...

Returning DMS sweeps Brighton after a month on the road

After over a month of traveling around West Tennessee, the Trojans and Lady Trojans returned home to Dyersburg for the first time since Nov. 3, sweeping a pair from Brighton on Monday night. Choctaws squeak by Halls in Three Oaks sweep

The Three Oaks Choctaws got on the winning track on Monday night, edging out a 42-39 win over visiting Halls at Three Oaks Middle School. The Choctaws got a pair of three-pointers from Ethan Smith as well as buckets from Tyler Daniel and Adarius Liggon on the way to taking a 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. Cardinals hand Dyersburg boys first loss

DCHS FCCLA and Grid Iron girls make preparations for Sorghum Valley Christmas Village schoolhouse

With the Christmas holiday just right around the corner, local residents are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the annual Sorghum Valley Christmas Village, which will be open to the public from Dec. 8-10. Over the past several weeks, members of the DCHS FCCLA and Grid Iron Girls have been working diligently to prepare decorations and crafts to be enjoyed at the Christmas Village’s schoolhouse building.

Donations of bedding, treats, and toys would make nice surprises for our animals.
