Milestone walkoff for Dyersburg State head coach

After a pair of 10-run dominating victories over the Salukis in the first two meetings during their three-game set this weekend in TCCAA action, Dyersburg State had to battle hard to complete its sweep of Southwest TN on Saturday afternoon, getting the 7-6 win on a walkoff single by LaDarius Williams in the bottom of the seventh.

This image was taken at 4:43 a.m. last Wednesday, March 1, during the storm that ripped through Dyersburg and Dyer County. It was taken facing westward from the Dyersburg Electric System substation off of Highway 412. To the right of the top light, one can see a low-hanging cloud, possibly funnel-shaped. According to DES President and CEO Stephen Lane, DES received its first report of damage last Wednesday at 4:48 a.m. and crews began responding to calls at 5:11 a.m. DES was assisted by surrounding municipal electric utilities from Union City, Ripley, and Jackson and worked around the clock from Wednesday morning to Saturday afternoon restoring power.

Newbern rescinds decision to relocate sewer lines at former NAPA location

Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m., the Newbern Board of Mayor and Aldermen convened for a special called meeting to discuss the relocation of city sewer lines currently located at 649 N. Grayson St., property owned by local businessman Gerald Tidwell.

After getting off to an impressive 16-2 start through the first 18 games of the 2017 season, the Dyersburg State baseball team has been recognized for what it has accomplished on the field during the first month of the season as the Eagles are ranked third in the nation in the initial NJCAA Division I Baseball Rankings which were released on Tuesday.
