Arlington dominates Lady Choctaws in home opener

The Lady Choctaws continued their busy spring break week as they finally got to play on their home field after playing their first six games on the road. But, regional rival Arlington proved to be too much for Dyer County as the Lady Tigers handed Dyer County a 10-0 setback in the Lady Choctaw home opener on Wednesday evening.

Tempers flare at latest Newbern board meeting

On Tuesday, the Newbern Board of Mayor and Aldermen met for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting. While the night’s agenda was relatively light with key items of discussion including mowing fees and a new appointment to the Newbern Library Board, the largest portion of the meeting was consumed during a visitor’s address by former alderman John Flatt, who spent roughly one and half hours conveying a broad range of concerns and issues to members of the board.

Lady Choctaws rebound with six-run win over Ripley Lady Tigers

Coming off a mercy-rule loss the night before to regional rival Arlington, the Lady Choctaw softball team came back stronger on Thursday night, scattering nine runs across four frames to take a 9-3 win over Ripley at Dyer County High School.
