Lady Trojan Hopper, Dyer County’s Autry selected for all-star game

Just a week after their seasons ended at the TSSAA State Tournament in Murfreesboro, a pair of local high school seniors have been selected to take the field one more time to represent their schools in the 2017 Billy Schrivner Memorial West TN High School All-Star Softball Game in Jackson on Thursday night.

County fire departments receive free pet oxygen masks through Project Breathe

Recently, members of Bonicord, Newbern and Finley volunteer fire departments met with Invisible Fence brand representative Robert Lee, who demonstrated the company’s pet rescue system, Project Breathe, a system designed to ensure that every department and rescue unit is equipped with life-saving pet oxygen masks.

Lenox Baptist moves 70-year-old steeple to new building

Bridging the past with the future, Lenox Baptist Church members, along with volunteers, successfully placed the church’s copper steeple atop their new sanctuary. The 70-plus-year-old steeple, along with the church’s stained glass windows, which originally was a fixture at Lenox Methodist Church, was moved to Lenox Baptist in 1991. It was moved to the top of its new 250-seat home Tuesday afternoon thanks to church members and Art Craft Signs of Dyersburg.

Howl for Hounds event to benefit humane society

Music acts from across the country will gather at the Dyer County Fairgrounds Saturday as the Psycho Seven Entertainment will host the Howl for Hounds benefit for the Dyersburg/Dyer County Humane Society from noon – 1 a.m. rain or shine. Gates will open at noon, and entry into the event will be $10 per person. All proceeds raised will go to the Humane Society.
