Dyer County 17U Tomahawks win state tournament

With a dominating performance over the weekend down in Selmer, the Dyer County 17U Tomahawks team will keep a tradition going as they won the state title for the fourth straight season and will again represent the area in the Dixie Pre-Majors World Series next weekend in Guntersville, Ala.

TCAT holds open house

From noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Newbern [TCAT], located at 340 Washington St., hosted an open-house event for all potential and future students. Guests were treated to refreshments and hot dogs as well as campus tours and opportunities to learn more about available options for financial aid and free tuition.

Luncheon to feature Sanderson and special guest governor candidate Harwell

On Thursday, July 27 at noon, a luncheon featuring State Rep. Bill Sanderson and Republican governor candidate Beth Harwell will occur at the Lannom Center. Sanderson has served as District 77 state representative, which includes Lake, Dyer, and most of Obion counties, since 2010. Harwell, a Republican and current House speaker of Tennessee, was the first woman ever elected to the position. She announced on July 16 her bid for governor.

The copper fabrication department at Nortek Global HVAC was certified as a Demand Flow Technology (DFT) department in May of 2017. The copper fabrication department produces all the copper tubing necessary for all products produced at the Dyersburg facility and some for Nortek’s plant in Saltillo, Mexico, using computerized electronic Kanban signals that are based on assembly line production demand. Over 1400 individual part numbers are produced in Dyersburg’s copper fabrication department...
