Despite trailing by seven heading into the final six minutes on Thursday night in Brownsville, Dyersburg Middle School’s Lady Trojans more than doubled their points in the fourth quarter as they rallied to take a 23-20 win over the Lady Warriors. Though much of the game was a low-scoring affair, the Lady Warriors added to their one-point halftime lead with a dozen points in the third quarter, getting five points from Zuniga to take a 17-10 lead into the final six minutes...

Wednesday’s meeting of the TSSAA Legislative Council saw a couple of things dealt with that I have been keeping an eye on as change was voted against, at least for the time being. As you read, hopefully, in Thursday’s edition of the State Gazette, the proposed change to the TSSAA calendar which would have taken softball out of the spring season and moved it to the fall was voted down by the council...

Choctaws win home opener to remain unbeaten

The Choctaws got their home portion of their schedule off to a strong start, jumping out to an 18-0 lead in the first quarter against Millington on the way to an 83-74 win over the visiting Trojans on Friday night in Newbern.
