Santa and Sheriff’s Office bring gifts to Newbern Headstart party

On Dec 15, deputies of the Dyer County Sheriff’s Department escorted Santa to the Northview Middle School to pay a surprise visit to children attending Newbern Headstart’s Christmas party. Santa and the Sheriff’s Office delivered approximately 40 gifts to pre-school children at Newbern and over 76 Gifts to Dyersburg Headstart. DPD seeks information regarding theft

On Friday, Dec. 22, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Dyersburg Police received a theft complaint at Tennova Healthcare. A staff member reported that an unknown skinny black male – reportedly 6 ft. tall, wearing a blue or dark colored shirt and black jogging pants - had entered their office unannounced. When confronted about why he was in the office, the individual ran out the west door of the hospital. The suspect had allegedly taken a lady’s wallet from the staff member’s purse, which contained credit cards. Officers found that the credit cards had been used at local businesses that totaled in amounts in excess of $500.

DPD, Sheriff’s Office take extra measures to ensure safe holiday travel

In light of the holiday season, officials at the Dyersburg Police Department and the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office are taking extra measures to ensure traffic safety.
