Having a competent police force is essential to having a safe and peaceful community. The Dyersburg Police Department is one of the few agencies that is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), meaning that each officer is well trained and well equipped to serve the community. For officers to serve at his or her highest potential requires that they are not only physically prepared, but are emotionally and spiritually fit as well. Though the physical aspect of the job is obvious and easy to measure, the emotional and spiritual part can be difficult to measure.
