The Dyersburg Trojan soccer team got its postseason off to a good start while honoring its seniors with Senior Night festivities during the black and gold’s 7-1 win over Obion County Central on Tuesday night at J.C. Sawyers Stadium in the District 14AA Semifinals.

Lady Trojans rally to complete tourney comeback

After prolonging the district tournament a day earlier in a slugfest, the Lady Trojans took a tough punch from the Lady Cavaliers in the first inning on Tuesday as Crockett County scored four times in the top of the first, but Dyersburg bounced back by scoring eight runs in the first four innings on the way to an 8-7 win in the second District 13AA Championship game to claim the title for a third straight season.

Talton Flemon Williams, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida. Mr. Williams was a native of Newbern, Tennessee and a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida. Talton was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He had retired as a self-employed manufacturing representative and was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Alarm organization lists Dyersburg as dangerous city

According to a report released by the National Council for Home Safety and Security, and posted by Alarms.org, the City of Dyersburg ranks as the 96th most dangerous city in the country per average rate of violent crime, per 100,000 people. The report was formally released on May 7. For the study, the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting database was consulter and crime reports were downloaded for the years 2010-2014, the most recent years available, for multiple jurisdictions.
