Youth Villages raises awareness for foster care

Founded in 1986, Youth Villages has aided children across the United States who face a wide range of issues that stem from emotional, mental, or behavioral problems. Youth Villages’ mission is to help children and families live successfully and to always put kids first. Though the organization offers multiple services, the Youth Villages’ Foster Care Program gives children an opportunity to become a part of a loving, nurturing foster family. The ultimate goal is to reunite children with their birth families when the time is right. If that is not a reality, Youth Villages attempts to find an appropriate adoptive family.

Former city recorder files civil, federal lawsuits against City of Newbern

On Friday, June 22, former Newbern City Recorder Jason Roberts, who was terminated from his position by Mayor Justin Wright on grounds of creating a hostile work environment on April 24, 2018, has now filed federal and civil lawsuits against the City of Newbern and those aldermen who voted to uphold his termination.

Chamber hosts unveiling ceremony in honor of late Chamber President Hester

On Monday, June 25, the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce hosted a special unveiling ceremony in honor of the late Allen Hester, who served as the Chamber president for roughly 15 years, until his passing in early 2017.
