DPD reminds that fireworks prohibited in city limits; Sheriff’s Dept. encourages safety in county

With Independence Day quickly approaching, the Dyersburg Police Department is issuing a reminder to local residents about city ordinance (7-402)(2) regarding the manufacture, sale, and discharge of fireworks within the city limits of Dyersburg. According to the aforementioned city ordinance, it reads, “(2) … it shall be unlawful for any person to store, to offer for sale, expose for sale, sell at retail, or use or explode any fireworks; provided that the chief of the fire department shall have power to adopt reasonable rules and regulations for the granting of permits for supervised public displays of fireworks by the city, fair associations, amusement parks, and other organizations.”. ...

Comptroller OKs city’s auditor selection, finance committee approves budget

The committee not only revisited budget talks, but also the topic of discussion involving the Board of Mayor and Alderman’s vote to approve Cowart Reese Sargent as the City’s new auditor, replacing Alexander Thompson Arnold.
