Joe Walker Goad, 90, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital. He was born on November 27, 1927, in Midway, TN, to the late Rice Pierce Goad and the late Maude Willard Goad. Joe was a retired tool and die supervisor for several companies. His last employment was with the State of Arkansas. He had been a Mason for 60 years. Joe was a WWII Navy Veteran and a Korean War Army Veteran, serving in the 11th Airborne Paratrooper Division...

Lady Trojans open week with sweep of Liberty

With a pair of district matches on the docket for the next few days, the Lady Trojans got their week off to a successful start with a three-set sweep over visiting Liberty on Monday evening in the Terry Glover Gymnasium in Dyersburg. “We have a very tough match tomorrow night so tonight was good to work on some of our offensive plays that we need to get down,” Dyersburg head coach Marilyn Liljenquist said. “Hopefully, they’ll get rest tonight and be ready to play well tomorrow.”...

Lady Choctaws rally to top Milan in four sets in non-district match

Despite dropping the opening set on Monday night at home against Milan, the Lady Choctaws battled back from the slow start to dominate the set frame then take the final two sets on the way to a four-set win over the Lady Bulldogs at Dyer County High School.

County officials take oath of office during swearing-in ceremony

Dyer County man drowns in Mississippi River incident

Partnering law enforcement agencies and rescue workers concluded a search for a 34-year old Dyer County man who was suspected to have drowned late Monday evening, while swimming in the Mississippi River on the south end of Island 21.
