Trojans look to clinch first region title in five years tonight at Ripley

There is always a lot on the line in a small region when two teams meet but tonight’s contest in Ripley between Dyersburg and the Tigers is a very important one for the Trojans as the black and Vegas gold look to clinch the school’s first Region 7-4A title since 2013 with a win over the hosting Tigers.

Lady Choctaw season ends with Collierville sweep

Playing for the first time at home in the sectional round, the Lady Choctaws ended their season just one match short of making the trip east to the Class AAA State Volleyball Tournament as Collierville swept Dyer County in straight sets on Thursday night to end the orange and white volleyball season.

Harriet Dawson Cousins died October 9, 2018 of complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. She was born August 22, 1932 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to the late Roger Clark Dawson and Anna Elizabeth Fowlkes Dawson. Harriet was a graduate of Dyersburg High School. Later, she moved to Memphis where she was in management for the 7-11 Corp., then later retiring after 22 years from Kroger Company. She was a life-long member of the First Methodist Church in Dyersburg, TN. and Central Church in Memphis...

Children enjoy fairytales read in German at library

Community member Kirsten Mays visited McIver’s Grant Public Library Tuesday morning for Storytime, where she read fairytales in English as well as German. According to McIver’s Grant Public Library Director Kathryn McBride, Mays is responsible for the German language book reviews featured in the library’s new books on German authors, characters, and places. Following the stories, children created their own fairytale with Vanessa Cain, the library’s children and youth services director. McIver’s Grant Public Library is holding many German-oriented activities throughout the week in lieu of the upcoming Dyersburg Oktoberfest, to be held Saturday in downtown Dyersburg. City planners OK text amendment for indoor shooting range

Sheriff’s Office seeks help in search of theft subject

Justin Eric Ables, 31, of Dyersburg is currently wanted by the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office. The DCSO has an active warrant for Ables, who is charged with theft over $1,000. According to DCSO, Ables is a white male, 5’5 in height, weighs 150 pounds, and has green eyes and brown hair.
